Nick Bhattacharjee is an experienced, professional, respected flautist based in Liverpool, UK. A truly versatile player who performs as a soloist and as an orchestral player.

 

His music has taken him from touring around the world with different orchestras to performing with, indie rock legends, James.

 

THE PERFORMER

 

Nick became Co-principal of the Orchestra of the Swan in 1997, based in Stratford-upon-Avon. He has toured with orchestras to America (New York Alice Tully Hall), Switzerland, China, Germany (Berlin Konzerthaus), France, Austria and Holland (Royal Concertgebouw). Having played for Royalty on several occasions and at the BBC Proms, Nick is used to a big occasion.

 

He has also performed with indie rock legends like James, and Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.

 

In 2013 Nick performed with three other musicians in the BBC's adaptation for CBeebies of Northern Ballet's production of The Ugly Duckling.  This was a 'short ballet for children' and the production won a BAFTA Award.

 

Since then Nick has played for two more children's ballets; The Three Little Pigs 2013/14 and The Elves and the Shoe Maker 2014/15

FLAUTIST

Nick began his musical studies at Chetham's School of music where he studied with Alan Lockwood.

 

He then went on to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where, after three years of principal study flute with Richard Chester MBE he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree.

 

Nick then moved on to the Birmingham Conservatoire where he continued his flute tuition with Kevin Gowland and graduated with a Master of Arts with Distinction.
